A Toxic Workplace
Toxic workplaces are the result of toxic leadership.
Not all leaders within an organization contribute to its toxicity. However, the role and power held by narcissist individuals in leadership positions is a major contributing factor to organizations becoming toxic.
While narcissist leaders can contribute to the organization in positive ways, their prime interest is in power and the continuous need to be viewed as powerful and in control. You may wish to read the information about HR Departments and how they contribute to the toxicity in organizations.
Narcissist (toxic) leaders align themselves with a few personnel at the exclusion of those that are not prepared to play their games. These leaders encourage their `chosen' favourite employees to tell on one another, with a view to eliminating those that they view as a `threat' to their power. Gradually, it becomes a dog-eat-dog culture and a toxic workplace where the narcissist leader continues to create attrition of an organization's valuable resource - independent, confident and well liked staff.
